Chapter Six

Leta scooted a little closer to Guryon as they stood outside drinking a cup of coffee, waiting for everyone to get ready for their ride to Detroit. She had agreed to have her bike hitched to the trailer and to ride behind the man that stood next to her. She looked down at her coffee, tears threatening to fill her eyes as she remembered the exact time, he had been taken yesterday to meet with the ones that had created him.

Leta didn’t know how she knew they’d taken Guryon, but she did. The wrenching pain in her heart had shaken her to the point she had locked herself in the downstairs bathroom, trying to get herself together. Oh Drew had seen her right before she slammed the door. He had begged her to open it, but Leta wasn’t ready to show that kind of emotion to them.

“You know you hurt Drew last night by not allowing him to help you. You should have opened up to him,” Guryon said quietly, slipping his arm around her and holding her. “If one of us isn’t there for you, we expect you to seek the others, Leta.”

“I know, but I’m not good with showing anyone my emotions,’” she said, stepping away from his hold and going down the porch stairs, where Drew was speaking with one of Guryon’s men’. She took a sip of her coffee as she waiting next to him. Leta could at least apologize and hope she didn’t fall apart when she did.

“Frank, I’d like to introduce you to our mate, Leta. Little Red, Frank is going to go over to Cindy’s and make sure she gets to Detroit next week. With those things around, I want to make sure your friend gets there safe.”

Leta held out her hand to the giant man. “Thank you, that means a lot to me. She’s had it rough, losing her husband and raising her son alone. Just be warned, I’m not the only one with a temper.”

Frank laughed. “I think I can handle it. I have three brothers, and my mother can scream like a banshee. It’s nice to meet you, Leta,” He said and turned to get on his bike without touching her hand.

“They all know not to touch you with the bonding going on. Now what can I do for you?” Drew took her mug and took a sip, wrinkling his nose. “That needs sugar.” He handed the coffee back to her.

“Nope, it’s perfect just cream.” Leta looked down at the ground. “I’m sorry about last night, Drew. I know I should have gone to you or Colin, but I couldn’t. I’ve always been taught to hide my feelings because they’re’ a weakness.”

Drew wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close, careful of the coffee. “Look at me, Little Red,” he said and waited.

Leta knew the moment she looked up the tears would fall, and she hated to cry. Her eyes got all puffy, but she glanced up as a single tear slid down her cheek.
